Before you start studying
1.Download the FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Supplement (FAA-CT-8080-2H) from faa.gov — it's free and you'll have access to it during the actual exam. Open it alongside this guide whenever you see a figure reference.
2.On exam day, do a brain dump on scratch paper before question 1: write the key numbers — 3 SM / 500 ft / 2,000 ft / 400 ft / 0.04% / 8 hrs / 24 months / 55 lbs / 0.55 lbs / 10 days / $500 / 60 days.
3.Airspace and weather are roughly half the exam. If your time is limited, prioritize Sections 2 and 3 of this guide before anything else.
4.Take the full 60-question practice exam in Section 6 under timed conditions (120 minutes) before your test date. Score it honestly — it's the best indicator of readiness.
